If your child has a health condition or requires medication of any kind, a Student Health Plan form must be on file at the school. School Engage Online Reports
Parents are asked to complete Demographic Verification Reports through PowerSchool/SchoolEngage as soon as possible. Up-to-date contact information is imperative to maintaining communication between school and home.
Veterans’ Food Bank
Queen Elizabeth High School will once again be participating in a Veterans’ Food Bank drive. While the Royal Canadian Legion no longer organizes the actual food drives, we will be working with their partner, The Calgary Food Bank, to support the veterans who self identify with them. We will have drop off boxes located outside the Main Office for students, parents, and guests to leave nonperishable items. The Food Bank drive will begin on Tuesday, October 10 and end on Wednesday, November 8.
November 8 is also the day we will be participating in our annual Remembrance Day ceremony. We are in the planning stages at this time however students will be given the opportunity to participate in the ceremony through various activities and roles.
Student Services
Burns Memorial Fund High School Bursary Program – if you are currently a Grade 12 student on track for Graduation for June 2024 and are encountering financial barriers impacting your success, make an appointment with Student Services to learn more about the Burns Memorial Fund.
Post-Secondary Open House and Scholarship Information – Many post-secondary institutions are offering Open Houses in October for students to have an opportunity to tour campus, meet with advisors, and learn about programming options. Check out the Student Services D2L shell for specific dates and scholarship information.
Languages Course Challenge: High school students who are seeking to challenge a 30 or 35 level Language course are asked to come pick up an application in Student Services or use the link below. Language Challenge

Y Mind Teen through YMCA – Y Mind Teen is a free seven-week mental wellness program for teens (13-18) who are experiencing symptoms of mild to moderate anxiety or stress. Participants learn and practice evidence-based strategies to help manage anxiety. Y Mind Teen is led by trained mental health professionals and gives teens the chance to connect with peers who are experiencing similar thoughts and feelings. ANTYX - Antyx works in communities across Calgary to provide free, arts-based programming for youth ages 12-18. Using the arts to engage youth and spark their curiosity and commitment to the world around them while learning prevention skills and lifelong therapeutic tools. Roll Out Carbon Week: October 2 – 6
Did you know that approximately 50% of car trips are less than 5km in distance? Have you seen the fancy new bike racks outside? These have been provided by Youth En Route, a Calgary-based cycling advocacy group focused on breaking down the barriers for youth to use cycling as transportation. YER is hosting Roll Out Carbon Week from October 2nd to October 6th. Students can register at https://commuterchallenge.ca/c... and log their bike rides, walks, and carpools to school to win some pretty great prizes including the grand prize of a brand-new e-bike and helmet. Prizes will be given out on Tuesday at the school doors for bike, walk, and carpool commuting! Anyone with questions can please contact Natalie Gallant at nlgallant@cbe.ab.ca.
High School Basketball
Any high school students interested in playing on one of QE’s high school basketball teams are asked to sign-up at the PE office. Monday November 20th is the first day of tryouts.
Yearbook
Are you artistically inclined? Would you like to see your artwork included on the cover or inside 2023/2024 yearbook? Submit your work digitally to Ms. Gallant at nlgallant@cbe.ab.ca. This year's theme is "As We See It". Your artwork should incorporate this theme and/or QEHS symbols or images. The deadline for submissions is September 29th, 2023.
Yearbook club will begin term two. More information is coming.
Clubs
The Chess Club will meet Wednesdays from 3:35 – 5:00 p.m. in Room 102 (across from Student Services). The Chess Club is for beginner, intermediate and advanced players.
The Garden Club is meeting Wednesday at lunch and Friday after school in Room 232
The Neurodivergent Alliance is meeting Thursday at lunch in Room 232
The Engineering Club is meeting Thursday after school in Room 301
