Parent Teacher Conferences 

We will be hosting on-line Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday November 23rd from 5pm-8pm and Friday November 24th from 8am-2pm.  If you require an in-person meeting, please reach out to your child’s teacher directly so that you can set up a time.  Parents can book Conferences through their MyCBE/PowerSchool Account, under the ‘Book and Manage Meeting Times’ tab. Booking will close at noon on Thursday November 23th.  A Teams link for the meeting will be sent to you in your confirmation e-mail.  If you have trouble booking Conferences, please contact the Main Office for assistance.

Basketball 

Congratulations to the Junior Boys’ Basketball Team who finished 2nd this year. The Junior Boys advanced to the Divisional Final where they played Simon Fraser in a close back and forth  championship game. The boys showed steady improvement and should be proud of their achievements over the course of the season.  Go Knights! 

 

Scorekeeping for High School Basketball 

With High School Basketball starting up, we are in need of high school student volunteers to score keep during home games. Those students who volunteer will also be paid for the hours they put in. Students interested must  speak with Mr. Richmond in the PE office to sign up. 

 

Grade 9 West Coast Sailing Trip 

On Thursday, November 30th at 6:00pm in the Learning Commons, there will be a parent meeting for the upcoming Grade 9 West Coast sailing trip.  Come and hear all about this amazing trip in more detail, ask any questions and if you’re ready, apply to come with us. There does NOT need to be any commitment on your part to come and join us for this meeting. 

 

Parent Session 

Tom Kersting will be speaking to parents virtually on November 29th at 7pm.  Tom is the author of ‘Disconnected: How to Protect your Kids from the Harmful Effects of Device Dependency’.  Tom will provide parents with some insight into the cyber world of our students and give parents some strategies to have conversations and monitor their children’s on-line behavior.   We encourage parents to engage with their children around what is on their cell phones, such as photos, web sites visited, text messages, group chats, and social media posts. Grad Fundraiser 

From November 1st to November 30th, the QEHS Grad Committee will be running a coffee fundraiser with Rebel Bean. Rebel Bean is a small batch coffee roaster located in Okotoks. Their coffee is organically grown, fairly traded, and roasted fresh every week. You can choose from a variety of whole bean and ground coffee, as well as loose leaf teas. The medium roast will feature the QEHS Knights logo. Your purchase will be roasted and delivered directly to our school for pick-up just in time for Christmas. Proceeds will support our 2023-2024 graduates.

The City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre (YEC) provides free, in-person drop-in employment services. We offer resume targeting, job search strategies, interview preparation, career planning, connections to employers who are hiring, and more.

No-Cost Counselling through University of Calgary 
The Centre for Wellbeing in Education is pleased to offer no-cost individual counselling to members of the public for the Winter 2024 (January through April) term. Therapy is offered by graduate students in the Werklund School of Education's counselling psychology program under the supervision of experienced registered psychologists. All services are provided with consideration of the practice standards set by the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). 

Any interested clients age 14+ are encouraged to submit an application. Please note that as a training facility that offers short-term interventions, the clinic is able to respond to the needs of individuals experiencing:

·         depression and anxiety 

·         body dissatisfaction 

·         fear of failure 

·         negative self-talk 

·         changing schools 

·         discrimination 

·         relationship difficulties or breakup

The Robotics Club is meeting on Tuesdays at lunch in A301 

 

The Yearbook Club is meeting on Thursdays at lunch in Room A214, beginning November 16. 

 

The Junior High ASL Club is meeting on Thursdays at lunchtime in Room 201 for junior high students who wish to learn ASL.  We look forward to seeing you there! 

 

The Chess Club is meeting on Wednesdays from 3:35 – 5:00 p.m. in the SGA.  The Chess Club is for beginner, intermediate and advanced players. 

 

The Neurodivergent Alliance is meeting Thursdays at lunch in Room 232 

 

The Engineering Club is meeting Thursdays after school in Room 301 

 

The Sewing Club meets on Thursdays at lunch in Room A208.  Learn how to use a sewing machine and make basic repairs to clothing and accessories. All grades accepted. We can even try to upcycle something you love!  

  

The Social Dance Club is meeting on Wednesdays at lunch. Come try out our social dance club in the Dance Room. No partner or experience needed. Grade 12's, this is your chance to look snazzy at graduation.  

 

QE GSA: The Queen Elizabeth Gender and Sexuality Allegiance provides a safe space for all students to socialize, explore their identities, and build community. The GSA meets weekly at lunch on Wednesdays in the drama theatre; everyone is welcome, come check us out! 

 

The Culture Club 

Culture club is Thursdays after school, Room A208. Come share about your culture and/or learn about other cultures. We will watch some famous foreign movies too!
