Tom Kersting, author of ‘Disconnected: How to Protect Your Kids From the Harmful Effects of Device Dependency’ will be offering QEHS parents an on-line session on the evening of Wednesday November 29th (more details will come out closer to the date)
Lately we have been noticing an increase in negative on-line behaviors from our students. We hope that Tom Kersting will be able to provide parents with some insight into the cyber world of our students and give parents some strategies to have conversations and monitor their children’s on-line behavior. We encourage parents to engage with their children around what is on their cell phones, such as photos, web sites visited, text messages, group chats, and social media posts. Should you have any questions or concerns please reach out to the main office. We hope to see as many parents as possible at the virtual event on November 29th.
Veterans’ Food Bank
Queen Elizabeth High School will once again be participating in a Veterans’ Food Bank drive through the Royal Canadian Legion. We will have drop off boxes located outside the Main Office for students, parents, and guests to leave nonperishable items. The Food Bank drive will begin on Tuesday, October 10 and end on Wednesday, November 8. Our Junior High School homeroom classes are actively involved in this food drive by bringing their items to their homerooms.
November 8 is also the day we will be participating in our annual Remembrance Day Ceremony. We are in the planning stages at this time however students will be given the opportunity to participate in the ceremony through various activities and roles. Poppies will be available on November 8 prior to the broadcast and students are encouraged to make a donation to the Poppy Fund.
Grad Fundraiser
From November 1st to November 30th, the QEHS Grad Committee will be running a coffee fundraiser with Rebel Bean. Rebel Bean is a small batch coffee roaster located in Okotoks. Their coffee is organically grown, fairly traded, and roasted fresh every week. You can choose from a variety of whole bean and ground coffee, as well as loose leaf teas. The medium roast will feature the QEHS Knights logo. Your purchase will be roasted and delivered directly to our school for pick-up just in time for Christmas. Proceeds will support our 2023-2024 graduates.
Please follow the link to connect with our fundraising page and order directly from Rebel Bean: https://rebelbeanfundraising.c...

Students interested in Dual Credit or Exploratory Programs: Applications for Unique Pathways and Off-Campus Education for semester 2 are now available here.
The CBE collaborates with post-secondary institutions, industry partners and community organizations to offer unique opportunities for students. These range from practical, hands-on learning experiences in Exploratory programs to Dual Credit courses and programs that allow students to participate in post-secondary learning with the support of a supervising CBE teacher. There is NO tuition fee for CBE students participating in unique pathways programs. Applications are due November 20th, 2023. Information session details will be listed on the website.
