Women in Engineering

If you have signed up for the event, please attend an information meeting Tuesday Feb 6 in Room 206 at lunchtime to get field trip forms, schedules, and other relevant information.
Math Contests
Students who are interested in signing up for Semester 2 Math Contests should see Ms. Hewitt (A316) for forms. The deadline to submit forms/payment to the Business Office is February 1, 2024.
Athletics
Scorekeeping for Junior High School Volleyball Teams - With junior high school volleyball starting up, we are in need of junior high student volunteers to score keep during home games. Those students who volunteer will also be paid for the hours they put in. Students interested need to speak with Mr. Richmond in the PE office to sign up.
Lost and Found
We have items that need a home!! Please remind your child to check the wide range of clothing, water bottles, binders, lunch bags, etc., of lost or forgotten items. Lost and Found is located in the SGA. Lost items such as jewelry, electronics, eyeglasses, etc. are located in the main office. Unclaimed items will be donated at the end of February.
Leadership - Texas Donuts
Reminder that prepurchased Texas donuts will be delivered Monday the 29 and Tuesday the 30. Anyone who is away those days can pick up their treats in the office on the 31.

SAIT - SAIT presentation in the Learning Commons on February 26th during Knight’s block. All high school students are welcome.
Schulich Ignite: Any grade 10-12 students interested in free coding workshops (beginner and advanced Python and website development), offered at the U of C, are invited to fill out the registration form: https://forms.gle/6BF3Ma1Hac6s.... Grade 11 summer opportunity at the U of C - The Research Services Office from the University of Calgary is now accepting applications from Grade 11 high school students for the 2024 Alberta Innovates High School Youth Researcher Summer (HYRS) program.
The online application deadline for students is Thursday, March 14th, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. MT. The deadline for references is Wednesday, March 27th, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. MT Interested students can apply on this webpage.
Language Course Challenge Semester 2 Opportunity - Are you in high school? Are you fluent (read, write, speak, and listen) in another language and want to earn up to 15 credits? This opportunity may be for you! Please see Student Services for more information. The deadline to apply is Thursday, February 8 at 4 PM.
Unique Pathways Information Night - This opportunity will be held at the Career and Technology Centre (2336-53 Ave SW) on Wednesday, February 7 from 6-8 PM. No registration is required.
Calaway Park - A representative from Calaway Park will be in the SGA on Wednesday, February 21 to promote summer employment opportunities. Please stop by and ask your questions.
Y Mind is a FREE 7-week mental wellness program for teenagers (13-18 years old) offered through YMCA Calgary. The program aims to support and provide resources for teenagers experiencing mild to moderate levels of stress and/or anxiety.
Individuals can learn more about this program on this website (https://www.ymcacalgary.org/y-...) or complete a Formstack request (https://ymcacalgary.formstack....) to sign up for our Information and Intake Sessions. Students 14 and older can self-register for the program without parental consent as well. Yearbook
Did you know that yearbooks are not included in student fees? Avoid disappointment by pre-ordering your student's yearbook today! Students must pre-order their yearbooks by February 23rd. Please head to PowerSchool to pay. Any questions can be directed to the Business Office.
Clubs
Writing Club – QEHS is pleased to announce a new club. It will be hosted by our very own Writer in Residence, Marc Herman Lynch, who has been with us since November. Marc plans on handling everything from putting a sentence together to becoming a Margaret Atwood, and this by June. There will be opportunities to improve writing, chat about favourite writers/writing, read favourite clips to an audience, field trips to the City Library and/or The U of C to attend lectures/meet professors. All grades are welcome. The club will meet in room 236 on Tuesdays during the lunch hour.
Robotics – Will be meeting on Tuesdays at Lunch in Room A301
Crochet and Embroidery Club - Are you a current cross stitcher, embroiderer, or crocheter? Are you interested in learning one of these crafts? If you said yes to either of these questions, then this club is for you! Starting Wednesdays in February, bring your current works in progress (or the desire to learn) to room 233! Basic materials will be provided, and stitches will be reviewed. Come hang out and create with Ms. Hynes! (Room 233)
Chess Club will resume Wednesday, January 31 after exams to coincide with the Semester 2 start. We have tournament dates planned for January 31 and February 7 for our Queen Elizabeth Chess Club members 3:35-4:35. Students will be competing in Beginner or Intermediate groups. We are looking for donations of small items to use as prizes (candy, bookmarks, card decks, fidget tools, small brain games, $5 gift cards, or any inexpensive item suitable for gr 7-12 competitors who love Chess). Leadership Club will start again at lunch on Wednesday, January 31.
