Please return your pre-order form to Ms. Ross by January 19, 2024 in person (Room A307) or via email at mkross@cbe.ab.ca. Forms are available in Room A307, the main office and via the D2L Shell. If enough pre-orders are received, you will be given information about when and how to pay for your items.
Personal Foods Cookbook
Personal Foods is selling cookbooks as a fundraiser for the first time this year! The cookbook includes 50 of our favourite recipes in categories such as Appetizers and Salads, Soups and Sauces, Baking and Sweets, Seasonal, International, and Canadian classics.
The cookbooks are $25 and all proceeds will go back into the Personal Foods program. If you are interested in purchasing a cookbook, please connect with Ms. Jalili in Room 204 or at sajalili@cbe.ab.ca
Jr. High Volleyball
Volleyball tryouts have begun for Junior High students this week. The tryout schedule was conveyed in PE classes prior to the winter break and is available on our website under the Athletics tab. We hope to have both Junior (grade 7 and 8) and Senior (grade 8 and/or 9) level teams. Practices will commence once teams are selected, and games will begin at the end of January/beginning of February. Watch for updates about Home games! Go Knights!

University of Calgary STEM Opportunity - Spring Break March 25-29, 2024

Y Mind is a FREE 7-week mental wellness program for teenagers (13-18 years old) offered through YMCA Calgary. The program aims to support and provide resources for teenagers experiencing mild to moderate levels of stress and/or anxiety.
Individuals can learn more about this program on this website (https://www.ymcacalgary.org/y-...) or complete a Formstack request (https://ymcacalgary.formstack....) to sign up for our Information and Intake Sessions. Students 14 and older can self-register for the program without parental consent as well. Interested individuals can contact the general Y Mind email if they have any questions at ymind@calgary.ymca.ca.
Scholarships
Education Matters – Investing in The Future Award - Open to students registered in grade 12 who demonstrate financial need and are completing the requirements of a high school diploma. Applicants must have demonstrated academic progress in grade 12 and marks sufficient for entrance to a post-secondary area of study. Applicants are required to submit proof of financial need. Applicants are required to submit an original essay of approximately 500 words or a two-minute video describing “the impact on their lives and the impact they hope to have on the world should they receive this opportunity.” Students must be planning to attend a Canadian higher education institution. Leadership
Meetings are on pause for exams and end of semester organizing. We will resume on Wednesday, January 31, the first day of Semester 2.

Glamorgan Bakery - Texas Donuts (1/$4 or 3/$10) and Cheese Buns (1/$3 or 3/$7) will be available for order on Jan 16-18 at lunch in the SGA. Delivery will take place on Monday, January 29th or 30th for those that are away.

Yearbook
Did you know that yearbooks are not included in student fees? Avoid disappointment by pre-ordering your student's yearbook today! Students must pre-order their yearbooks by February 23rd. Please head to PowerSchool to pay. Any questions can be directed to the Business Office.
Chess Club
Thank you to all chess players for attending our Fall meetings. There will be no further Chess Club meetings in December; we will resume our Wednesday meetings January 31 after exams to coincide with the Semester 2 start.
We have tournament dates planned for January 31 and February 7 for our Queen Elizabeth Chess Club members during our Wednesday meetings 3:35-4:35. Students will be competing in Beginner or Intermediate groups. We are looking for donations of small items to use as prizes (candy, bookmarks, card decks, fidget tools, small brain games, $5 gift cards, or any inexpensive item suitable for gr 7-12 competitors who love Chess). ASL Club
There is no ASL club for the rest of the semester. It will return sometime early in the second semester.
