Dates of Interest
December 22 – Last day of classes before Winter Break
Gift Card Blitz
This year we will be doing a Gift Card Blitz to help families in our community over the winter break. Our school helps to support 15 families through the holiday break. We support with basic needs but also with small treats to make the holiday special.
In years past we have done a food drive and challenged homerooms to compete against each other to donate food and personal care items. This year, however, we have decided that rather than providing families with excessive amounts of canned tuna, beans, and corn we would provide them with the opportunity to purchase what needs are most important to them. Gift cards allow families to purchase the items, brands, and sizes that they need most. We appreciate any and all gift cards but are particularly looking for grocery store, toy store, coffee and restaurant cards, gas cards, and everything stores like Walmart and Superstore. Transit tickets are also appreciated as many families use transit to access services in the city.
With the spirit of giving in mind, we will be pitting Jr. High students against Sr. High students to see who can donate the greatest number of gift cards! There are Christmas Trees on the board in the front of the school that will have an ornament added for each Gift card that is donated. The tree with the most decorations on it by Dec 20th will win a prize for their entire section of the school.
Donations will be accepted up to Wednesday Dec. 20th boxes are placed in the front office and students or parents are welcome to drop off gift cards at any time.
