Dear QEHS Parents and Guardians,
This week we are celebrating our junior high cross-country team who placed 4th overall out of 36 schools. We had the largest team, with over 45 runners, that we have had in over five years. Congratulations on a great season, Knights!
On Tuesday, September 29th, we will honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Staff and students are invited to wear an orange shirt or accessory to honor residential school survivors, the children who never returned home, and the families and communities who were affected by the residential school system. Students will also participate in a school wide mural project to support their reflection on the importance of Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action call upon educators to implement sustained action and take on a shared responsibility to advance the work of Truth and Reconciliation. As a staff, Queen Elizabeth High School has co-created our school’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation for the 2026-2027 school year. Our commitment is now posted on Our School page. As a team, we will spend time on Friday’s non-instructional day learning about the importance of land acknowledgement. This year, each staff member will be invited to give the land acknowledgement throughout the school year on our professional learning days.

Crosswalk Construction
The City of Calgary will be installing a new Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon (RRFB) pedestrian crossing at the intersection of 3 Avenue and 18 Street NW. Construction began on Thursday (Sept. 24), with work anticipated to be completed during the week of October 5.
While this upgrade is welcome news for pedestrian safety in our community, we ask families to use extra care and caution around the construction area during arrival and dismissal.
Student Services
Language Course Challenge Program allows high school students who are fluent in an additional language to earn credits (ie. Mandarin 15, 25, 35) The deadline to apply is September 28, 2026. Please bring the completed application form to Student Services.
Unique Pathways programs let high school students earn high school and post-secondary credits or gain hands-on training through partnerships with colleges, universities, and industry groups.
Unique Pathways applications open on October 5, 2026 Deadline: November 20, 2026. Upcoming Event: The Unique Pathways Information Night takes place on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Career and Technology Centre at Lord Shaughnessy High School (2336 - 53 Ave SW, Calgary)
Fall Scholarship Information session for grade 12s will be held in the Learning Commons on Monday, September 28, 2026 during lunch.

Graduation 2027 Fundraiser!
