Dear QEHS Parents and Guardians,
There is so much to be grateful for and to celebrate this week at QEHS. World Teachers' Day is celebrated annually on Monday, October 5. If you get a minute over the weekend, be sure to send a gratitude message to one of the exceptional educators at QEHS that is making a difference in your child's life.
Our high school Cross Country team competed in the City Finals on Wednesday with all students having successful runs. Two of our athletes will move on to the provincials later this month. Our junior and senior high school girls' volleyball teams played home games this week winning their games, and our junior high basketball teams started their seasons this week- go Knights!
Wednesday, November 4, 2026 marks Alberta's Take Your Kid to Work Day, an opportunity for grade 9 students to explore the careers in which their parents work by attending work alongside them for the day. At Queen Elizabeth High School, we recognize that for a variety of reasons, students may be unable to attend work alongside a parent or guardian. As such, we have planned a career fair style event on November 4 for grade 9 and high school students who remain at the school. Students will have an opportunity to circulate to various professionals to learn about a variety of professional pathways. If you are interested in volunteering your time and sharing with students about your career, please feel free to fill out this interest form by October 22.
Wishing you all a joy-filled Thanksgiving long weekend. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, October 13.
With gratitude,
Jennifer Edmondson-Neily
Principal

CBE Well-Being Student Survey
This year, CBE is introducing the CBE Well-Being Student Survey for students in Grades 4–12, replacing the OurSCHOOL Survey. The survey is anonymous and confidential and provides students with an opportunity to share their perspectives about their learning experiences, well-being, and school community. Student feedback helps our school better understand areas of strength and identify specific actions we can take to continue supporting student well-being, engagement, and success.

GATE Parent Education Session – Wednesday, November 25 at 7pm
The GATE Parent Association is hosting a presentation entitled: Teaching Our Kids in the “Acceleration Age” – Without the Gift of Prophecy – presented by Dr. Veronika Bohac-Clarke, University of Calgary, Werklund School of Education. This presentation is open to all and is directed to parents and teachers looking to assist our children navigate our current era, which may be described as the “Acceleration Age”, where information is quickly moving and all at once. This is especially challenging as we grew up in a different, slower moving age and are also just learning to navigate this “Acceleration Age” while trying to provide guidance to our children. We invite attendees thinking about their own questions and possible solutions in advance of the presentation. Register here by November 23.
