Dear QEHS Parents and Guardians,
For our new QEHS Families, welcome to your first edition of our weekly “Knight’s Notes”. At QEHS we value parent/guardian collaboration, and this is one way we strive to ensure you stay connected. Knights’ Notes is sent weekly, and then posted on our school’s website, to provide whole school updates which often include celebrations of learning, helpful reminders, and upcoming key dates. We post the weekly Knight’s Notes on our website so students can see the information and so you can check back for information you may have missed. We also use our school’s official Instagram account to share student voices and announcements. Please consider following us @qehsknights.
In addition to our weekly Knights’ Notes, and school website information, teachers will provide frequent updates in one or more of the following ways. Grades 7-9 learning communities often send a weekly message with information about learning progress and announcements for the week. Teachers also use the announcements in D2L, which will come directly to your email. Teachers are all expected to have learning resources in D2L with the level of content increasing as academic demands increase at the grades 10-12 level. Individual learning progress is updated in PowerSchool, which you can access through your MyCBE account.
We know that you have questions and at times concerns come up. Please use our “Communication Cheat Sheet” to ensure you direct your question to the appropriate staff member at the appropriate level. Communication about concerns most often begins at the classroom teacher level as they are the person most connected to your child.

This week I have been so inspired by our incredible staff. Our facilities team has been hard at work ensuring the school is shining, our support staff have kept us organized, and the teachers are hard at work collaborating with one another to ensure students are set up for success. Everyone is so excited to welcome the students through the doors on Monday! Looking forward to a fantastic year ahead.

Student Personal Mobile Device Policy
Grades 7, 8 and 9 – Away for the day
- No phone use inside the building during school hours
- Phones should be off or silent in students' lockers
- Teachers can allow students to use PMDs for specific learning purposes.
- Hallways are no cell phone zones for all grades.
Grades 10. 11 and 12
- Students' PMDs must be powered off or set to silent mode and stored out of sight in student lockers, backpacks or other designated area during instructional time.
- PMD use may be permitted during breaks and lunch times.
- High School students should not be on their PMDs in the hallways.
- Teachers can allow students to use PMDs for specific learning purposes.

Run High School X-Country with QEHS!
Calling all runners - no experience necessary! Come represent our school via our high school x-country team. Practices are before school (Mon - Thurs). See Ms. Hardy (Rm 108) for details & forms. Meets are in September & October.
Yearbook Cover Art Competition
The yearbook committee is looking for cover art. Submissions should incorporate a Knight in a creative way, as well as highlight what you believe to be the strengths of our school community. Submissions are due September 25. You can submit your cover art to the yearbook email address at yearbookqehs@gmail.com.
