Grad Update 2024
- Grad Candids – Are you coming to the reception on May 21?? Do you have fun and shareable pictures of you and your friends from QE? Send them to Ms Ross at mkross@cbe.ab.caASAP!
- Grad Ceremony begins at 10:30 am on May 21 at the Jubilee Auditorium. This is a formal event where graduates will wear their caps and gowns (Given to them at the grad rehearsal on May 16)
- Once school fees have been paid, follow this link https://www.ticketmaster.ca/event/1100607499421A05 to reserve seats for the ceremony on May 21 at the Jubilee Auditorium. A list of all student IDs that have been sent to Ticketmaster for access can be found posted outside of the Business Office and the main office. Please have your student double check their number is included. Fee payments received after April 15 may experience delays of Ticketmaster access of 1-2 weeks from date of payment. Email Jennifer Morris at the business office (jemorris@cbe.ab.ca) if you have any questions.
- Tickets are now on sale through PowerSchool for the reception at Winsport (May 21, 4 – 8pm). Note: even though the fee is called “Graduation - Banquet”, it is not a sit down dinner! This event is a mix and mingle – small bites and non alcoholic beverages are served, there is a DJ, balloon photo arch and a chance to celebrate with friends and family. Tickets are $65 a person. Please purchase your tickets by May 7.
- Grad rehearsal is on the afternoon of May 16. Grads will receive information on how the ceremony works, get their cap and gown and have a fun surprise!
- If your child is 18 years old and has not signed a ‘Consent to Release Information to Parents’ form, you will not be able to access their information in PowerSchool
Student Services
On Wednesday, May 22 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. AHS Community Education Service is presenting a free in-person event “Help! My Child is Struggling” How to Navigate Childrens’ Mental Health in Calgary and Surrounding Areas.
- Early Warning Signs your child and/or adolescent may be struggling with their mental health and when to seek help.
- Common questions parents have about accessing mental health and addiction support services for their child.
- Access Mental Health and their centralized intake to AHS programs. What to expect when calling for help and how to access services.
- Different programs Access Mental Health can refer to and the most common community resources parents can find helpful.

Test Writing/Study Skills: Any high school students wanting to learn test writing and study skills, please come to the Learning Commons during Knights Block next week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

Leadership Events
Thursday, May 9 - Leadership will be selling fresh cut flowers in the SGA at lunch. Celebrate Spring and buy a flower for your friend, teacher or parent. Remember it is almost Mothers Day....surprise her early with a flower! Cash only and prices will range from $2-$8
Outdoor Education 8/9
Our Camping trip is full and groups have been organized. Please remind your attending student to visit Mrs. Wilson-Brown in A213 to check which list they are on. We have a Mandatory student meeting on Tuesday, May 7 to pick up paperwork and create shelter/sleeping groups.
High School Badminton Team
Congratulations to Lucas Z. (intermediate boys singles) and Leo L. (senior boys singles) who both finished second at City Championships last week. They advanced to the zone competition last Friday at Crescent Heights where they represented Queen Elizabeth well. Congratulations as well to all those who participated on the High School Badminton team this season.
2024 Drama Production
QEHS Musical Theatre is proud to announce this year's musical is "Nevermore: The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe". This sinister and gothic musical, originally written and produced by Edmonton’s Catalyst Theatre, follows the almost unbelievable life of poet Edgar Allan Poe through tragedy and loss. The musical will be produced from May 28 - 31 so mark your calendars! Tickets will be available for reservation at a later date.
QE Jr. High Open House

If you have a student going into grade 7 next year, please join us at our Open House for an opportunity to learn more about our school, meet our staff, and tour the school.
DHH Parent Night - Thursday, May 16 from 6:00 – 7:00pm.
The Deaf and Hard of Hearing program at Queen Elizabeth High School is excited to extend an invitation to all DHH students and their families already enrolled for the 2024-25 school year and for those interested in learning more about our amazing school and the DHH program. This is a great opportunity to view our program, our school, and for students and families to meet each other and the professionals who support student learning.
