Dear QEHS Parents and Guardians,
Happy New Year! The new year offers an exciting time for all of us to set our intentions for progress and growth towards our goals. One of those goals for our school community is to enhance ways for us to capture student voice in order to increase engagement in our learning community. Students told us, through the Assurance, CBE and Our School surveys, that they would like a student council to share their voice in school decision making. Starting in the second semester, we will be launching the Principal Advisory Council.
The Principal Advisory Council will meet weekly at lunch starting in the second semester. This year, our guiding questions will be: What is a Knight? What does it mean to be a leader, learner, and citizen at QEHS? We will have 3 representatives from each grade for a total of 18 students. We want to make sure we gather a variety of voices to represent our community. The deadline for students to submit an expression of interest is Friday, January 23, 2026. If students have any questions, they can connect directly with me at school or send me an email at jlneily@cbe.ab.ca.
We also value parent voice and engagement in important matters and decision making. The next School Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 19 from 6-7 pm. Parents are invited to attend in-person or online.
There are several important updates for the week ahead below. Have a safe and relaxing weekend.
