Dear QEHS Parents and Guardians,

December is in full swing and QEHS is a vibrant and busy place.  Last Saturday we hosted the Robotics Tech Challenge competition at our school.  Ten high schools competed in a variety of robotics challenges. Our Knight’s team performed well, and they are off to their second competition this weekend at Lester B. Person School- good luck!

Our high school Student Wellness Action Team (SWAT) attended the CBE Well-Being Symposium at Mount Royal University along with all other CBE high schools to collaborate and create student well-being action plans.  Next week, the Junior High SWAT team will attend the middle/junior well-being Symposium, and our students have been chosen to present our Well-being action plan to all of the other junior/middle schools in the CBE.  This is a recognition of our students’ leadership and advocacy for creating a safe and welcoming space for all students to thrive.

Our School Results Report for 2024/2025, and School Development Plan for 2025/2026, has been posted on our website.  Take a moment to review the celebrations connected to student engagement in their learning and the adjustments we are making for this school year to continue to improve.  The data shows our students outperform the province on provincial achievement tests.  Moreover, the data mirrors what I see every day, our students are connected, goal-oriented, and know that we have high expectations for them to succeed. They do so because of the strength of our personalized and inclusive learning community.

Looking forward to seeing you all next week at our high school open house (grade 9 parents) and CTS/Fine Arts celebration of learning.  Have a great weekend.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Edmondson-Neily
Principal

Knights’ Helping Hand Fund

The season of giving is upon us, and we wish to highlight two optional opportunities for QEHS to support those in need in our community.  Firstly, our Knight’s Helping Hand Fund, available through the Education Matters website, accepts online donations to support students who need help with basic needs such as clothing and food.  Be sure to scroll down to access the Knights’ Helping Hands fund. Any money donated between now and Monday, December 15 will go to purchasing grocery gift cards for QEHS families in need.  Alternatively, students can drop off a gift card, of any amount, by Monday, December 15 at the main office.  Student Services and the QEHS leadership team will identify families in need and be sure that families receive gift cards before winter break.  Thank you!
